The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ current plan to rebuild is 11 feet lower than the destroyed the Mississippi River levee’s original height. Over 200 square miles of land and communities will still be unprotected. Please help by sending a note your local official. To Whom It May Concern:

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ plan to rebuild the Birds Point levee in Southeast Missouri is inadequate to fully protect the people and communities from future floods. Specifically, their plan would erect a levee that would stand 11 feet below the 62 feet structure it destroyed in May 2011.

This is unacceptable to those that live and work the affected region. As such, we urge you to provide the resources necessary to rebuild the Mississippi River levees and restore the land to the way it was prior to May.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
